Pine Grove Family Fishing Pond will officially open on Saturday, April 30 with a Kids Fishing Day. The fishing will start at 9 am and the first 10 kids that catch fish will win prizes. The derby will be open for kids age 12 and younger with prizes for 3 age classes. The awards ceremony will be at noon and there will be a short ceremony recognizing Robin Street and his family for the donation of this pond. Flathead Walleyes Unlimited and Flathead Wildlife will provide assistance and prizes. There will be some loaner fishing rods available through the Hooked On Fishing Program.

Pine Grove Pond is located off Rose Crossing Road east of Whitefish Stage Road. The 5 acre pond features gentle side slopes, a picnic shelter and latrine, and a fishing pier. After the Grand Opening the pond will be open to family fishing during daylight hours. The pond is stocked with rainbow and westslope cutthroat trout. Pine Grove Pond and facilities were built and donated to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks by Robin Street and his son Steve with assistance from many community groups and businesses.
