FWP Seeks Input on Proposed Addition to Garrity WMA

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) is looking for public input on its proposal to acquire a 154- acre addition to the 9,635-acre Garrity Mountain Wildlife Management Area (WMA), just west of Anaconda.

The parcel is in an area identified in the Natural Resource Damage Program’s (NRDP) Restoration Plan as a priority area for conservation. It would protect a migration corridor for bighorn sheep, key habitat for bull trout and westslope cutthroat trout, and provide public access and recreation opportunities.

Project funders include NRDP, the Montana Fish and Wildlife Conservation Trust, and FWP’s Habitat Montana fund.

FWP will hold a public hearing in Anaconda on Thursday, Jan, 3., 2019 at 7 p.m. at the AOH Hall (106 Cherry Street) to discuss the proposal, answer questions and take comment.
