Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public comment on changes to commercial use rules at state fishing access sites, wildlife management areas and state parks.
The commercial use administrative rules were originally adopted by the former FWP Commission in 2006 and amended in 2009 to establish policy and permit requirements for commercial uses on all FWP land.
In 2013, the State Parks and Recreation Board and the Fish & Wildlife Commission were established. Rather than creating separate sets of commercial use administrative rules, the board and commission are jointly proposing amendments to the commercial use rules that would continue to apply to all FWP land.
Among the changes are proposals to: 1) clarify that commercial fishing access site permits are not valid at state parks; 2) no longer require permits for individual commercial photographers; 3) list the grounds for which a commercial use permit could be suspended or revoked; 4) allow a permit holder to qualify for a fee adjustment by donating all proceeds beyond expenses from an activity or event; and 5) rename the "Restricted Use Permit" the "Commercial Use Permit".
FWP will host a public hearing on the rule changes in Helena on June 3, at 6 p.m., at 1420 East 6th Ave.
