Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) is seeking comment on a proposal to grant a permanent utility easement to Missoula Electric Cooperative at Russell Gates Memorial Fishing Access Site (FAS) in the Blackfoot Valley.

If granted, Missoula Electric Cooperative would replace an existing underground power-line cable and existing overhead power line with a single underground line that would run under a portion of the FAS. The Cooperative would mitigate impacts to soil and vegetation, including weed control.

The draft environmental assessment for the proposal may be viewed on FWP’s website fwp.mt.gov under “Public Notices.” The EA documents may also be obtained by mail from Region 2 FWP, 3201 Spurgin Rd., Missoula 59804; by phoning 406-542-5561; or by emailing Rory Zarling at rzarling@mt.gov.

Comments may be made online or may be directed to Rory Zarling at the mail, phone or email addresses above. Comments must be received by November 14, 2013.
