FWP Seeking Comments for North Shore State Park/ Farming Project

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region 1, is seeking comments for a proposed action to contract farming on the North Shore State Park/WMA in Flathead County (T27N, R20W, S21, north shore area of Flathead Lake). This project involves a share-cropping agreement for the benefit of wildlife, especially migrating waterfowl and upland birds, but other wildlife as well, including white-tailed deer, small game, and songbirds. The project also includes measures to control weeds on the property.

The draft environmental assessment (EA) is out for a 14-day public review through July 12, 2012. Copies of the draft are available at FWP HQ, 490 N. Meridian Rd., Kalispell; MT State Library, 1515 E 6th Ave., Helena; Flathead County Libraries, 247 First Ave. E, Kalispell and 521 Electric Ave., Bigfork; and the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov under Public Notices.
