This news release was archived on Sun May 27 11:27:00 MDT 2012

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks would like to remind horn hunters and other recreationists that all Region 3 Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) with winter closures don’t open until noon on May 15.

Those WMAs still under closure include Dome Mountain (Paradise Valley), Gallatin (near Big Sky), Madison-Bear Creek (Madison Valley, east side), and Madison-Wall Creek (Madison Valley, west side), Canyon Creek (northwest of Helena), Fleecer Mountain (south of Butte), Gravelly-Blacktail (southeast of Dillon), Mount Haggin (south of Anaconda), and Robb-Ledford (south of Alder).

WMAs provide crucial winter range for big game and vital habitat for an array of other game and nongame wildlife. To learn more about Montana’s wildlife management areas, and to confirm openings statewide, visit fwp.mt.gov and click on “Fish & Wildlife.”
