The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission is seeking public comment on a proposed new rule that would establish a statewide "no-wake zone" at all commercial marinas in Montana, including Fort Peck Reservoir’s Fort Peck Marina.

"At this time more than half of the state's commercial marinas have a wake restriction,” said Ron Jendro, FWP’s boating law coordinator.  “This proposed rule would make the rules consistent throughout Montana.”

The proposed new rule also means existing and new marina owners would not have to request individual no-wake restrictions at their facility. Jendro said that with today's heavy boat traffic,  many docked boats are susceptible to accidents and damage due to wakes, regardless of what body of water the marinas are located on.

Details on the proposed statewide no-wake zone rule are available on the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov.
