Billings field day set for hunter education online students

Education - Region 5

Monday, March 21, 2016

BILLINGS — A field day for students who have completed the online version of the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks hunter education class is set for April 13 and 14 in Billings.

The field day will run from 6-9 p.m. both Wednesday, April 13, and Thursday, April 14 at FWP’s Region 5 headquarters, 2300 Lake Elmo Dr. in Billings Heights.

Students must attend and complete both sessions.

Montana law requires anyone born on Jan. 1, 1985, or later to complete a hunter education course before they can buy and use a Montana hunting license. Students 18 years old or older may take the course online, but then they must complete a hands-on field practicum before they are certified.

The field days are restricted to 30 students. Those who have completed and passed the online version of the class may register online by navigating to the FWP web site (http://fwp.mt.gov) and following the links to education and hunter education.

Additional field days for online students will be held throughout the state during the coming months. A full list is available on the FWP web site.
