Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will hold its spring hunter education classes for the Helena area beginning April 7.
The classes will be held at CR Anderson Middle School, East Valley Middle School, and Jim Darcy Elementary School. Here are class times and dates for all three schools:
- April 7, 8, 10; 6:30-9 p.m.
- April 14, 15, 17; 6:30-9 p.m.
- April 19; Field Day at the Helena Trap Club, beginning at 8 a.m. Arrival times will be assigned to students during class.
Online registration is required, and students under 18 years of age must have the consent of a parent or guardian. Students must be 11-years-old to receive certification. To register, visit FWP's website at fwp.mt.gov then click on the Hunter Education icon.
Students must print, sign and bring the Acknowledgement of Risk, Letter to Parents, and the Student Code of Ethics forms—which are found on the event registration page—the first night of class. If the student is under 18 years old, a parent/guardian must sign the agreement. Students are not allowed to bring firearms or ammunition to class.
Prior to the first class, students are required to read the hunter education manual and complete all chapter quizzes. If not completed, students will not be admitted. Manuals can be picked up at FWP Headquarters office at 1420 E. Sixth Ave., or Montana Wild at 2668 Broadwater Ave.
