Region 3 Opens Registration for 2013 Wolf Trapping Classes

Region 3 Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has set dates for its 2013 wolf trapping certification classes. Certification and a trapper license are mandatory before a person may set wolf traps in Montana. Students must register online at fwp.mt.gov/education/wolfTrapping/. Region 3 classes are as follows:

Changes to wolf season regulations including season dates will adopted at the upcoming FWP Commission meeting on Wednesday, July 10. Regulations will be discussed extensively during class in addition to ethics, wolf behavior, setting traps, and reporting a harvest.

Statewide 97 wolves were harvested by trappers in the 2012-2013 season (Montana’s first wolf trapping season) which ran from December 15, 2012 through February 28, 2013.
