FWP Asks for Cooperation as Bear Activity Increases

Montana FWP Officials are urging people to clean up all bear attractants on their property as bear activity rapidly increases. On Tuesday, FWP Bear and Lion Specialist Erik Wenum and Bear Technician Kylie Jones received 32 calls regarding black bears in conflict with people, ranging from simply eating apples to attempting to break into multiple homes.

Columbia Falls Hunter Education Classes Coming up

Online registration is now open for the Columbia Falls Hunter Education Course. Everyone must register online, and students must pick up pre course materials before the course begins. Pre Course materials are available at the orientation held at the Columbia Falls Fire Department on September 8 between 6 and 8 p.m.

Flathead Valley Community College’s (FVCC) Natural Resources program and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) have joined forces to present an eight-part lecture series, “Wildlife & Humans Together in the 21st Century,” on selected Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. through December at FVCC. The series is free and open to the public.

FWP Bear Manager Ask Residents to Secure Attractants

FWP bear managers are asking residents in northwest Montana to secure garbage, pet food and other attractants in light of recent conflicts in the Whitefish area. Bear and Lion Specialist Erik Wenum notes that several black bears have been accessing unsecured garbage particularly in the Lion Mountain and Whitefish State Park Road areas.

Free Youth Outdoor Skills Event Scheduled September 2 at Glasgow Trap Club

A free youth outdoor skills event is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Glasgow Trap Club. The event is organized and funded by donations and volunteers from the National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, The Glasgow Trap Club, and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks.

FWP Offers Adult Hunter Education Field Course in Glasgow

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is offering an adult-only field course for students that have taken the Online Adult Hunter Education course. The field course will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, in Glasgow. The class is open to at least 20 participants.

Final 2015 Great Falls Hunter Education Set

It’s time to sign up for the final hunter education course of 2015 in Great Falls. Online registration is going on now. Everyone must register online, but there will be a three-day opportunity at Fish, Wildlife and Parks, 4600 Giant Springs Road, for those without access to a computer.
