Fishtrap Fishing Access Site Use Restrictions in place

Flood, Drought & Fire

Thu Aug 16 13:35:22 MDT 2018

Use of the Fishtrap Fishing Access Site on the Big Hole River is restricted to walk-in access until further notice. The U.S. Forest Service set up a fire camp at the FAS for the Beaver Creek Fire, which was reported on Aug. 11 and has grown to approximately 1,000 acres.

The Fishtrap FAS is located about 23 miles northeast of Wisdom, on Montana Highway 43, in Deer Lodge County. Alternate river access near Fishtrap includes Sportman’s Park FAS, which is downstream of Fishtrap, and Bureau of Land Management recreation sites Sawlog Creek and Mudd Creek Bridge, which are upstream.

FWP anticipates that public use of the Fishtrap FAS will be restricted for several weeks. Parking on Hwy. 43 is prohibited.
