Lake Frances Reopened to All Recreation

Flood, Drought & Fire - Region 4

Fri Sep 15 12:24:41 MDT 2017

Lake Frances next to the town of Valier in Pondera County was reopened 12:01 a.m., Sept. 15, to all public recreation.

The lake was under a temporary emergency closure while aircraft used the lake to draw water to fight wildfires on the Rocky Mountain Front.

However, the recent change to wetter, cooler weather allowed Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to reopen the lake.

For up-to-date information on all closures and restrictions related to drought and fire, visit fwp.mt.gov/news/restrictions/ or call the FWP office in Great Falls at (406) 454-5840.
