The Big Hole River from Melrose Bridge to Notch Bottom Fishing Access Site will reopen to fishing at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 13, 2013. This section of river was closed August 20 due to low flow concerns in accordance with the Big Hole Drought Management Plan.
Criteria for reopening the river — flows exceeding 200 cubic feet per second for 7 consecutive days — were met on Sept. 12.
In accordance to FWP statewide drought management policy, fishing restrictions related to temperature are automatically lifted on Sept. 15. The Big Hole River from the headwaters to the mouth of the North Fork and from Notch Bottom Fishing Access Site to the mouth will remain closed. These sections will reopen in accordance with the Big Hole Drought Management plan.
