Angling Restrictions Lifted on Beaverhead, Big Hole & Jefferson


Longer nights, cooler air temperatures and some much needed rain have brought down the water temperature of several southwest Montana river systems. Therefore, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has lifted the angling restrictions on the Beaverhead, Big Hole, and Jefferson rivers effective Thursday.

Stimson Lumber Company Lands Closed to the Public due to Dry Conditions


Due to high fire danger, Stimson has decided to close their fee lands, including those covered by the Kootenai Lands Conservation Easement in Troy, to the general public until more favorable conditions return to warrant reopening. Stimpson has posted signs at prominent locations around the property and in local establishments around Troy. The closure goes into effect immediately. FWP to Lift Some Fishing Restrictions on Big Hole River


Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is alerting the public that angling restrictions will be removed on the Upper Big Hole River on July 18, 2015 as a result of cooler weather patterns. Restrictions may be reinstituted if weather warms and water temperatures rise in the coming weeks.

Fire Restrictions Take Effect on FWP properties in Blaine, Hill Counties


In response to dry, warm weather that could increase the danger of human-caused wildfires, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks fishing access sites (FASs) and wildlife management areas (WMAs) are under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions in Blaine and Hill counties.

Additional SW Montana Angling Restrictions Effective Friday (7/10)


In addition to last week’s “hoot owl” closures on the Jefferson and Big Hole rivers, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will also impose “hoot owl” restrictions on a number of southwest Montana rivers as a result of the continued high water temperatures.

Fire Restrictions at FWP Properties in Madison & Jefferson Counties


Due to the high level of fire danger, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks’ properties in Madison and Jefferson Counties will go to Stage 1 fire restrictions on Thursday, July 9. The restrictions apply specifically to FWP Fishing Access Sites, Wildlife Management Areas, and State Parks.
