Alert: Additional Angling Restrictions Go Into Effect On Monday 25 July At 2pm.

Waterbody Restrictions, Closures & Reopenings - Region 3

Monday, July 25, 2016

(Bozeman)—Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is implementing angling restrictions on the Lower Ruby River, and another section of the Big Hole River effective Monday July 25 at 2 p.m.

The most recent restrictions are to the following river sections:

  • The Big Hole from Maiden Rock Fishing Access Site to Notch Bottom Fishing Access Site
  • The Ruby River from Duncan District Road to the confluence with the Beaverhead River

These Hoot Owl restrictions are in addition others currently in place in southwest Montana.

Hot and dry weather patterns have created conditions where restrictions are warranted.

“Biologists continue to watch conditions closely, in particular since flows are dropping to critical levels,” said FWP Region 3 fisheries manager, Travis Horton. “Flows have dropped significantly over the past week, and with continued hot and dry condition further restrictions or closures are expected.”
