Ennis and Valley Garden fishing access sites on the Upper Madison River have been closed by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks due to dangerous ice build up.

Ennis fishing access site one half a mile south of Ennis is closed to vehicle and walk-in access. Valley Garden one mile north of Jeffers is closed to vehicle access. Users may continue to walk-in to Valley Garden, but are urged to use caution.

“This happens every year at both of these sites,” said John Taillie, FWP Regional Maintenance Supervisor. “The ice build up has made them impassable to vehicles and unsafe for the public.”

Both sites will remain closed until spring thaw when crews can go in an make repairs to the roads.
