Firefighter Camp Forces Beavertail Hill State Park and Pond Closure

Public Lands Restrictions, Closures & Reopenings - Region 2

Monday, July 30, 2007

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials announced that Beavertail Hill State Park and Beavertail Pond are closed to the public so the area can be used as a temporary firefighter camp and water source for suppression efforts.

Special park interpretive programs planned for Friday evenings in August have also been cancelled until further notice.

The park and pond, located just off I-90 26 miles east of Missoula, will remain closed until the area is no longer needed for fire suppression efforts.  For more information, contact FWP at
