Mountain Lion Hunting Districts Closed Or To Close In Region's 1, 3, 4, & 5

Hunting District Restrictions, Closures & Reopenings

The hunting of mountain lions in several Montana hunting districts in Region's 1, 3, 4 and 5, closed or to close at one-half hour after sunset:  

Closed to hunting of female mountain lions:

  • HD’s 310, 311, 360, 361 & 362 – which includes portions of Gallatin, Broadwater, Jefferson and Madison counties, closed Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016.

Closed to hunting of male mountain lions:

  • HD 124 – which includes portions of Sanders county, closed Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016.

Will close to hunting of male mountain lions:

  • HD’s 400, 401, 403, 406, 415 & 441 – which includes portions of Toole, Pondera, Liberty, Chouteau, Teton and Glacier counties, will close on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.

  • HD 413 & 432 – which includes portions of Cascade, Meagher and Judith Basin counties, will close on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.

Will close to hunting of female mountain lions:

  • HD 540 – which includes portions of Meagher and Wheatland counties, will close on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.

  • HD 560 – which includes Park and Sweet Grass counties, will close on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.

The closure notice for the hunt came shortly after Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials received word that the pre-established harvest quota or sub-quota for the districts had been met.
