Public meetings set on fish and wildlife funding recommendations

– Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has scheduled a public meeting for Wednesday, May 28 to discuss and collect comment on recommendations from an advisory council appointed to adjust hunting and fishing licenses and fees.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will host a public meeting Thursday, May 1 at 7pm at the Double Tree Hotel in Missoula to discuss and collect comment on recent recommendations from an advisory council tasked with adjusting Montana's hunting and fishing licenses and fees.

Latest Region 6 Elk & Bighorn Sheep Aerial Survey Results Released

The most-recent aerial surveys of elk populations in the Region 6 portions of the Missouri River Breaks and the Bears Paw Mountains south of Havre indicate a sizeable increase in animals in both areas over survey numbers that were last gathered.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will host a public meeting Tuesday, May 27 at 7pm at the Region 7 Headquarters, 352 I-94 Business Loop in Miles City to review and collect comment on recent recommendations from an advisory council tasked with adjusting Montana's hunting and fishing licenses and fees.

The Results Are In: Greater Sage-Grouse in Southeast Montana

During a four year study conducted by FWP in partnership with the BLM in the Southeastern Montana Sage-Grouse Core Area (Core Area #13), 94 sage-grouse hens were studied in order to determine population parameters, quantify seasonal movements and gauge habitat use in order to make management recommendations. Results of the study indicate that the sage-grouse population is stable, and that current land management in the Core Area is not limiting sage-grouse persistence.
