Comments Sought on Blackleaf WMA Proposed Addition EA

Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking comments on a draft environmental assessment (EA) proposing a fee title purchase of about 320 acres as an addition to the Blackleaf Wildlife Management Area, west of Bynum in Teton County.

Wild Horse Island Bighorn Sheep Capture Operation Completed

A total of 61 sheep were captured on Wild Horse Island State Park on February 26 and 27. FWP contracted with a helicopter wildlife service to capture the sheep. The operation was conducted cooperatively with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.

Montana FWP Joins North Dakota in Mule Deer Study

Miles City-- Forty mule deer in Regions 6 and 7 were recently captured and fitted with GPS (global positioning system) collars as part of a larger study looking at the effects of energy development on mule deer.

Female Mountain Lion Hunting To Close In HD 102

The hunting of female mountain lions in northwestern Montana hunting district 102, which includes portions of Lincoln and Flathead counties, will close at one-half hour after sunset on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.

All Mountain Lion Hunting To Close In HD 210

The hunting of mountain lions in western Montana hunting district 210, which include portions of Missoula and Granite counties, will close at one-half hour after sunset on Monday, February 24, 2014.
