Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for a proposal to conduct a 6-year effort to investigate suppressing illegally introduced walleye in Noxon Reservoir using a variety of sampling gear and techniques. Based on the level of comment and questions, FWP will prepare a revised draft EA before any major action is taken and will continue routine fisheries sampling.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks reopened today an eight-mile stretch of the Clark Fork River and two Fishing Access Sites (FASs) that were closed last week due to danger from the West Mullan Fire.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will host a trophy auction on August 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Region 3 Headquarters in Bozeman (1400 S. 19th Ave.). Items being auctioned range from deer and elk antlers, mounts and hides to trophy bighorn sheep and bison heads, as well as multiple furs. These came to FWP as a result of statewide Enforcement investigations and confiscation, Department management activities, as well as winter or road kill.

In an effort to protect fish from the stress of low stream flows and high water temperatures, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will prohibit fishing from 2p.m. until midnight on parts of the Clark Fork and all of the Bitterroot Rivers, excluding the East and West Forks, beginning Thursday, July 25.
