FWP Will Prepare a New Draft EA for Noxon Walleye Project


Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for a proposal to conduct a 6-year effort to investigate suppressing illegally introduced walleye in Noxon Reservoir using a variety of sampling gear and techniques. Based on the level of comment and questions, FWP will prepare a revised draft EA before any major action is taken and will continue routine fisheries sampling.

Clark Fork River and all Fishing Access Sites Reopened


Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks reopened today an eight-mile stretch of the Clark Fork River and two Fishing Access Sites (FASs) that were closed last week due to danger from the West Mullan Fire.

FWP to Hold Statewide Trophy Auction - August 10


Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will host a trophy auction on August 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Region 3 Headquarters in Bozeman (1400 S. 19th Ave.). Items being auctioned range from deer and elk antlers, mounts and hides to trophy bighorn sheep and bison heads, as well as multiple furs. These came to FWP as a result of statewide Enforcement investigations and confiscation, Department management activities, as well as winter or road kill.

FWP Seeks Comment on Proposed Wildlife Salvage Rule


Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking comment on a proposed rule to carry out a new law that allows salvaging of antelope, deer, elk or moose killed in collisions with cars, trucks and other motor vehicles.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) reopened Big Eddy Fishing Access Site on the Clark Fork River near the town of Superior. The site has been closed for public safety related to the West Mullan Fire.

Bison EA Comment Period Extended


Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and the Montana Department of Livestock have extended the public comment period on a draft environmental assessment (EA) reviewing the potential for bison to occupy public lands adjacent to Yellowstone National Park on a year-round basis.

Fishing Restricted to Coolest Part of the Day on Parts of Bitterroot, Clark Fork


In an effort to protect fish from the stress of low stream flows and high water temperatures, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will prohibit fishing from 2p.m. until midnight on parts of the Clark Fork and all of the Bitterroot Rivers, excluding the East and West Forks, beginning Thursday, July 25.
