By order of the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission, the daily and possession bag limits have been removed effective immediately through Oct. 1, 2009 for Clayton, Margaret, George, Woodward, Pyramid, and Pilgrim lakes in the South Fork Flathead drainage including within 100 yards of the lakes for inlet and outlet streams.

Jared Bain of Kalispell was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution from Lake Count Justice of the Peace Chuck Wall for the unlawful killing of a grizzly bear. In addition to the restitution he was fined $2,000 of which $1500 was suspended for shooting the bear during a closed season, fined $1000 of which $500 was suspended for the unlawful possession of the claws, sentenced to 180 days in jail all suspended and lost his hunting, fishing and trapping privileges for 12 months.

Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet July 7-8 at the FWP Helena Headquarters, 1420 East 6th Ave. In a work session July 7 at 4 p.m. they will discuss a proposed right-of-way to the Tongue River Railroad Company over land occupied by FWP’s Miles City Fish Hatchery. FWP Commissioners will consider a final decision on the agreement the following day. In the evening, the commissioners will meet informally at Spring Meadow State Park with the Upland Game Bird Council for a picnic.
