Bobcat Season To Close In Trapping District 2

By order of the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission, the season for trapping and shooting of bobcats in Trapping District 2 in western Montana will close at midnight on the evening of Sunday, February 1, 2009.

Female Mountain Lion Hunting To Close In District 123

The hunting of female mountain lions in northwestern Montana Hunting District 123, which includes portions of Sanders County, will close at one-half hour after sunset on Saturday, January 31, 2009.

Nominations Sought For Wolf-Livestock Board

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking nominations for the board directing the state's program to reduce livestock losses caused by wolves and to reimburse ranchers for wolf-related losses.

Mountain Goats Transplanted to Front

State wildlife officials, with help from Safari Club International (SCI), recently moved 15 mountain goats to the Rocky Mountain Front.             The move was the second and final year to release mountain goats on Ear Mountain Wildlife Management Area. Last year Fish, Wildlife and Parks released 10 goats in the same area. “We wanted to augment the population there,” says Brent Lonner, Fish, Wildlife and Parks wildlife biologist.

The hunting of all mountain lions in north-central Montana hunting districts 413 and 432, which includes portions of Cascade, Meagher and Judith Basin counties, will close at one-half hour after sunset on Wednesday, January 28, 2009.
