This month take some time to check the condition and fit of your life jacket before boating season arrives. Life jackets don’t last forever and the amount of buoyancy (and life-saving value) your life jacket provides will decrease over time.

Hunter education classes are scheduled throughout Yellowstone County starting Feb. 25. Certified volunteers will teach the free Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks classes, which are required for most people to hunt in Montana.

Kalispell, MT — Two fisheries biologists with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks in Region 1 received a pair of awards at the annual meeting of the Montana Chapter of the American Fisheries Society. Matt Boyer, the science program supervisor for FWP Region 1, was named the Fisheries Professional of the Year. Amber Steed, FWP Region 1 fisheries biologist, received the Best Professional Paper Award.
