Montana’s Private Land/Public Wildlife Advisory Council will meet in Miles City on Thursday, June 18, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. The 14-member council, comprising landowners, hunters and outfitters appointed by Governor Racicot, is charged with reviewing current hunter access programs and working with the public to develop recommendations concerning hunter access, private lands and outfitter issues. The focus of the June 18 meeting will be on future funding options for Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Block Management Program, as well as issues related to the outfitting industry. The Council is in the beginning stages of drafting recommendations related to House Bill 195, the legislation that created the current phase of Block Management, which requires legislative action in 1999 for the program to continue. The public is invited to attend the meeting and participate at designated times throughout the day. For more information, please contact FWP’s Shelley Juvan or Alan Charles at (406) 444-2602.
