Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet Jan. 15 in Helena at the FWP headquarters building in Helena, 1420 East 6 th Ave., at 8:30 a.m.
The FWP Commission will make final decisions on two items:
- a land exchange that would give FWP land adjacent to the Calf Creek and Threemile Wildlife Management Areas in Ravalli County in exchange for lands in the Lyman Creek area that would be traded to the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, and
- the extension of the Helena urban deer pilot program for 2009.
Commissioners will also tentatively decide on the number of peregrine falcon young that may be taken in 2009 by falconers who wish to train the birds for falconry, and on the proposed deer hunting season structure and license changes in FWP Region 1.
Other issues on the agenda include a discussion on the nominations for the Livestock Loss Reduction and Mitigation Board. The FWP Commission will also be asked to endorse a proposed transfer of a 52-acre parcel adjacent to the Blackfoot Clearwater Wildlife Management Area to FWP as mitigation by the Montana Department of Transportation for roadwork impacts planned on Montana Highway 83 between Highway 200 and Seeley Lake.
During a work session following the meeting, FWP Commissioners will hear presentations on brucellosis in elk, 2009 legislative activities, and a Tongue River Railroad easement that would cross a portion of the Miles City Fish Hatchery.
