BOZEMAN— The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission today reopened the west channel of the Yellowstone River through Livingston to boating, floating and swimming effective at Midnight Friday Aug. 29. The W est river channel from the head of Siebeck Island to the confluence of the east and west channels near the Civic Center had been closed since July 10, as had a that and a larger reach of the river from June 20 until mid July. Those restrictions were implemented at the request of Park County due to public safety concerns, which were generated by haz ardous high waters and issues related to the potential collapse of the 9th St. Island Bridge. The recent successful removal of debris from that bridges’ support piers prompted Park County to request the lifting of the recreational restrictions.
