Visit Beavertail Hill State Park on Friday, Aug. 22 to experience the life and adventures of early nineteenth-century explorer David Thompson.   The free program is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

One of the greatest land explorers of all time, geographer and surveyor David Thompson‘s achievements throughout the Inland Northwest from 1807 to 1812 are extensive.   Traveling by foot, boat, horseback or dogsled, Thompson completed the first scientific survey of the entire Columbia River—a vast area of 1.9 million square miles.

Writer, actor and historical interpretive specialist, Ritchie Doyle, will portray Thompson and bring to life his compassionate, confident and determined character.
