August 4, 2008 Game Wardens Help Phillips County Rancher With Wildlife Fencing Project MALTA, Mont. – Three members of the Montana Game Wardens Association recently volunteered to help a Phillips County rancher build stack yard fencing to keep wildlife away from stored hay. Malta wardens Mike Lee and Dirk Paulsen and Glasgow warden Shawn Briggs spent July 22 helping rancher Charlie Schwenke build the enclosure using wire and posts supplied through the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ game damage program. Schwenke recently signed a five-year contract with FWP to allow his land to continue to be part of the Square Butte Block Management Area. Lee is vice president of the wardens association, Briggs is the FWP Region 6 representative, and Paulsen is a member. The private, nonprofit group, which is not officially linked with FWP, strives to build partnerships between resource agencies, landowners and the public to expand access and promote conservation.
