BILLINGS — A full-sized Apsaalooke lodge – or Crow teepee – will be installed and explained Friday evening, July 25, at Pictograph Cave State Park. Wales Bull Tail and his helpers will erect the lodge and present a program on the history and tribal traditions that surround it. The free, family-friendly program starts at 7 p.m. The teepee will remain at the state park picnic ground for the duration of the summer. The installation and program were scheduled for earlier this summer, but were cancelled because of inclement weather. Pictograph Cave State Park is open every day this summer from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is no charge for Montana residents, but park fees may apply for non-residents. Pictograph Cave State Park, southeast of Billings, is one of 50 state parks in Montana that offer people a chance to explore Real Montana and get away without leaving their backyard.
