Decision Notice Issued for Site Improvements at Poker Joe Access Site

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) issued a decision notice on March 24 to implement site improvements at the Poker Joe Fishing Access Site (FAS) on the Bitterroot River between Florence and Stevensville.   The notice came at the end of a 30-day public comment period.

Planned site improvements include adding gravel parking areas to accommodate up to 12 vehicles and installing a latrine.  

The improvements, scheduled for completion by mid-summer 2008, are part of an agreement between FWP and adjacent landowners that ensures public access to the FAS through a road easement and establishes that FWP will complete site improvements to address traffic and parking concerns. Some of these measures, such as installing speed bumps and posting signs, have already been implemented.
