A domestic calf was found dead on private land in the Grasshopper Valley west of Dillon. USDA Wildlife Services investigated the death on Mar. 7.

Wolf tracks were found at the site and the carcass had been fed upon, but Wildlife Services was unable to confirm whether it had been killed or scavenged by wolves.

Wolf management specialist Liz Bradley said it is likely the wolves are from the Grasshopper Pack, which she believes has at least three wolves.

Wildlife Services set traps in the area to attempt to collar a wolf and release it. No wolves have been trapped yet.
