Fish, Wildlife & Parks and The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes are conducting a joint investigation into the poaching of a grizzly bear found near the intersection of Hillside Road and Post Creek on the Flathead Indian Reservation on or about September 20, 2007.   Several suspects have been identified, but further information is still needed.   A reward of up to $1000 from Tip Mont along with $2500 from the Defenders of Wildlife, and possibly other amounts, may be offered for information leading to the conviction of those involved.

FWP Warden Captain Lee Anderson points out that the grizzly’s claws were removed for monetary or personal gain.   “The killing and defacement of this grizzly takes away from everyone who appreciates wildlife,” he said.   “We are very interested in solving this case and bringing the violator or violators to justice.”
