Hunter Education Registrations Coming Up

Spring Hunter Education Classes are scheduled in communities around northwest Montana. All Hunter Education classes are free of charge.

Eureka: Eureka Hunter Education will begin March 3rd, with the remaining classes on March 10, 11, 13, 17, 18 and 20. The field day is March 15. The classes take place at the Eureka Middle School Library from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Call Ron Hvizdak (889-3791), for more information, or come to the first class to register.

Thompson Falls: Thompson Falls Hunter Education; Register by calling Jerry Shively, 827-3666

Classes 6-9 p.m. March 24,25,26,27,28, held at the Thompson Falls Community Center

Field Course and test, Thompson Falls Trap Club, Saturday, March 29.

Whitefish: Register Saturday, March 8, noon to 4 p.m., and Thursday, March 13, 5-8 p.m. at the Whitefish City Library. There will be no late registration. Classes are held at Central School, and are scheduled for 7-9 p.m. March 27 and 31, and April 1, 3 ,7 ,8, 10 and 14. The field course is scheduled for Saturday, April 12. Lead Instructor is Leonard Howke, 862-4091.

Bigfork: Registration and first night of class Wednesday, March 26, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Bigfork High School Music Room. Classes held 6-9 p.m. at the Bigfork High School Music Room on March 31, April 1,2,3,4; field course is Saturday, April 5; test night April 7. Call Jon Cuthbertson, 756-2220, for more information.

Columbia Falls: Register at the North Valley Community Center in Columbia Falls in on Tuesday, April 1, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; and Thursday, April 3, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the North Valley Community Center. Classes will be held at the Columbia Falls High School at 7-9 p.m. on April 17, 21, 22, 24, 28,29, and May 1; Field Course is scheduled for Saturday May 3; test night is May 5. Lead Instructor is Wade Fish, 862-6359.

Kalispell: Register Saturday, April 19, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks headquarters on North Meridian Road in Kalispell. Evening classes are held at Flathead High School from 6-9 p.m. on April 28, 29,30, and May 1. Field course is held on Saturday, May 3; written test is Monday May 5 from 6-8 p.m. Lead Instructor is Andy Breland, 212-1183.

Polson: Register and first class night is Monday, April 7, 7 p.m. at the Polson Middle School Cafeteria; Classes continue 7-9 p.m. on April 8,9,10,14,15, and 16 at the Polson Middle School; field course is April 19.

By state law, anyone born after January 1, 1985, must have completed the Hunter Education Course to buy a hunting license in Montana. The minimum age for hunting in Montana is 12. Students must be at least 11 years old to register for the course. A parent or guardian must accompany students under 18 to registration. Call FWP at 752-5501 for more information on any of these courses.
