Hunter Ed, Bowhunter Ed classes scheduled in Saco

A Hunter Education course has been scheduled for early March, and a Bowhunter Education course for early April, in Saco.

Hunter Ed will begin March 10 at 3:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Saco Town Office and the schedule for subsequent classes will be announced once the class begins. Bowhunter Education will begin Monday, April 7, also at 3:30 p.m. and also at the city office.

Both classes are free of charge. Hunter Education is required of all first-time hunters born after Jan. 1, 1985. By state law, the class is at least 12 hours long and covers all aspects of firearms operation, hunting safety, hunting ethics, outdoors survival and wildlife identification. The separate Bowhunter Education course is required of all Montana bowhunters, regardless of age. The course covers archery equipment, hunting ethics, landowner relations and other aspects of bowhunting. Both courses feature a hands-on field day.

Call instructors Pete Forbes at 527-3598 or Howard Pippin at 527-3284 with questions or additional information on the course schedules.
