Two FWP Commission public hearings will be held on proposed new boating rules for Echo and Swan Lakes in early March. "This is the time for the public to come forward and let their voices be heard about a public resource," says FWP Warden Captain Lee Anderson. "I recommend people either attend the meeting or mail in a comment if they have an opinion about these proposals." Echo Lake: Currently, Echo Lake is limited to a controlled no wake speed as defined in ARM 12.11.101(1). This proposed rule will eliminate the no wake speed in the upper three islands in the southwest corner of section 5, approximately 1/4 mile southeast of the entrance of Blackies Bay and the narrow corridors that serve as the entrances to Blackies Bay and Causeway Bay. A public hearing to take comments on this proposal is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at 6 p.m., at the FWP Headquarters on 490 North Meridian Road in Kalispell. Swan Lake: Currently, Swan Lake is limited to a controlled no wake speed as defined in ARM 12.11.101(1). The proposed rule would extend the no wake zone from the northern outlet of Swan Lake approximately 3/4 of a mile south to the southern tip of the southern- most island or as buoyed. A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 6:00 p.m., at the FWP Headquarters on 490 North Meridian Road in Kalispell. The detailed notice of public hearing on each of these proposals can be found under "Public Notices" on the FWP website (fwp.mt.gov). Concerned persons may comment orally or in writing at these hearings. Comments can also be submitted in writing to FWP Region One in Kalispell at: Martha Abbrescia, FWP, 490 North Meridian Road, Kalispell, MT 59901. Phone: 751-4567; fax: 257-0349; e-mail: mailto:mabbrescia@mt.gov Comments must be received no later than March 14, 2008. Attached: Notices of public hearings for Echo and Swan Lake
