Do something wild this tax season. Look for the soaring eagle on Montana’s 2007 income tax form. By making a check mark here, about 2,000 Montanans annually contribute more than $25,000 tax-deductible dollars to nongame wildlife projects to benefit nongame wildlife.

Montana’s nongame species include: chickadees, nuthatches, finches, hawks, owls, loons, pygmy rabbits, shrews, frogs and chipmunks to name a few.

Funds raised through the Nongame Wildlife Checkoff also help support a Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Native Species Specialist in Billings, a position involved in grassland species conservation.

To learn more about the Nongame Wildlife Checkoff and Nongame Wildlife species, go to the FWP web site at fwp.mt.gov and click on Nongame Wildlife Checkoff .
