Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) is seeking public comment on a proposal to enhance visitor services at Placid Lake State Park by installing electrical hook-ups at some of the campsites and adding a restroom courtesy light. Under the proposal, electrical hook-ups would be installed this spring at 13 of the park’s 40 sites. Currently the park has three electric hook-ups available only for the campground host and the two disabled accessible campsites . A light would be added to the central restroom in the park’s southeastern campground loop. The proposal also calls for adding electrical hook-ups to additional campsites in the park’s southwestern and northern loops as funding becomes available. The majority of visitors to Placid Lake State Park use the camping facilities, and a 2006 survey showed that over half of all campground visitors were using motor homes or full-size trailers for their accommodations. A draft environmental assessment (EA) will be available for review and comment beginning Friday, Feb. 15, 2008. You may view the EA at FWP’s website, fwp.mt.gov, under “Recent Public Notices” or request a copy by mailing FWP, 3201 Spurgin Road, Missoula, MT 59804; phoning (406) 542-5540; or emailing shrose@mt.gov. Comments should be directed to Lee Bastian by mail at the address above; phone to (406) 542-5517; or email to lbastian@mt.gov; and must be received no later than 5 p.m., March 7, 2008. -fwp-
