Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and the Montana Department of Livestock will reopen the bison hunt in the Gardiner area beginning Feb. 9 at 3 p.m.

A portion of Hunting District 385 west of Eagle Creek was temporarily closed on Feb. 7 to move a group of bison out of a no-tolerance zone in close proximity to domestic livestock as required under the Interagency Bison Management Plan.

The 2007-2008 bison hunt began on Nov. 15 and marks the third bison hunt in recent years. State and tribal hunters have taken 102 bison thus far. The hunt is divided into three time periods: Nov. 15-Dec. 31, Jan. 1-Jan. 22, and Jan.23-Feb 15.
