Meetings Planned to Discuss 2008 Big Game Hunting Season Proposals

Tentative proposals for the 2008 big game hunting seasons, approved by the Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission on Dec. 20, will be the subject of ten public meetings around west-central Montana’s Region 2 in January.

Region 2 public meetings will be held in Missoula, Hamilton, Seeley Lake, Helmville, Lincoln, Drummond, Philipsburg, Anaconda, Deer Lodge and Superior. Public comments collected at these meetings and submitted by mail or email will be weighed as the FWP Commission finalizes Montana’s 2008 hunting regulations in February.

The Region 2 meeting schedule is as follows:

  • Helmville:   Jan. 7, 7 p.m., Community Center
  • Missoula: Jan. 8, 6:30 p.m., Double Tree Inn
  • Seeley Lake:   Jan. 9, 7 p.m., Community Center
  • Lincoln:   Jan. 10, 7 p.m., Lambkin’s Cafe
  • Deer Lodge Jan. 15, 7 p.m., Community Center
  • Anaconda:   Jan. 16, 7 p.m., Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall
  • Hamilton:   Jan. 17, 7 p.m., Daly-Leach Chapel
  • Superior:   Jan. 22, 6 p.m., USFS Ranger District
  • Philipsburg:   Jan. 23, 7 p.m., Granite County Museum
  • Drummond: Jan. 24, 7 p.m., Community Center
  • Meetings will also be held in all regions of the state during January. A complete meeting schedule and more information on the hunting season and regulation proposals will be available on the FWP website, fwp.mt.gov, beginning in January. Or, contact the FWP Missoula office at (406) 542-5500.
