Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public comment on a proposed new rule governing the replacement of hunting licenses and permits. A public meeting in Helena on the proposed rule is set for Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. at the FWP headquarters, 1420 East Sixth Ave. The proposed rule calls for a signed affidavit affirming that the license was lost, stolen or destroyed. In cases where a license requiring a carcass tag is lost or stolen for the second time within a two-year period, a person would only be able to get a replacement in person at an FWP regional or area office.   The proposed fee to replace a hunting license or permit would be $5.

The public may comment through Aug.23 by writing to: FWP, Attn: Mike Korn, 1420 East Sixth Ave., P.O. Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620-0701; phoning: 406-444-2456 or by email to: mkorn@ mt.gov. A copy of the proposed rule is available for review on the FWP web site at fwp.mt.gov under Public Notices.
