Young anglers wanted for Walleyes Unlimited fishing day next Saturday

Any youngster aged 5 through 18 is encouraged to apply by next Wednesday for a slot in the annual Walleyes Unlimited Kids Fishing Day scheduled for Saturday, June 23 on Fort Peck Reservoir.

The day is free for participants and is sponsored by the Wolf Point and Glasgow/Fort Peck chapters of Walleyes Unlimited. Fishing will take place on volunteers’ boats from 10 a.m. through 1 p.m., followed by a free barbecue. Pre-registration is required and participation is limited to the first 100 kids who register.

Prospective participants can pick up an application at Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Glasgow office during normal business hours or by calling Ken Schmidt at 228-8487 in Glasgow or Samar Pronto at 653-3012 in Wolf Point. The applications must be returned to FWP or Walleyes Unlimited by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20 in order to be considered.

Participants must have transportation to and from the Fort Peck Marina and should check in at the marina by 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 23. No fishing license is required for this fun day and all fishing equipment will be provided by Walleyes Unlimited volunteers. Organizers are seeking additional boat drivers. Call Ken Schmidt if you can supply a boat for the June 23 fun day.
