Bowhunter Ed course scheduled for June 26-30 in Glasgow

Students are required to pre-register for a five-day, 12-hour Bowhunter Education course scheduled June 26-30 in Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Quonset classroom on U.S. Highway 2 West in Glasgow.

For the first time this year, Bowhunter Education students age 18 and older can opt to take a portion of the course over the Internet. These on-line students can study at their own pace from home, a public library or wherever they have access to a computer connected to the Internet. Students who participate in the traditional classroom are required to attend class Tuesday, June 26 through Thursday, June 28 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and Friday, June 30 from 5:30-7 p.m. A mandatory field day will bring classroom and on-line students together after noon on Saturday, June 30 for practical field exercises, the successful completion of which is required for certification.

All students, whether they take the course on-line or in the classroom, must register for the June class by stopping by FWP’s Glasgow office by Friday, June 22 and picking up course materials, including Montana’s Bowhunter Education manual.

By state law, all first-time bowhunters must pass the 12-hour Bowhunter Education course in order to purchase a bow-and-arrow license. All bowhunters born after Jan. 1, 1985 must also show proof of completing a hunter education course either in Montana or another state.
