Pictograph Cave State Park will kick off a series of summer programs at the park on Saturday, May 26 th , with “Wild Bird Identification.” The program, presented by the Yellowstone Valley Audubon Society, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Included in the presentation will be a discussion about the Montana Birding Trail project. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and wear appropriate footwear and clothing. There is no charge for Montana residents. Non-residents must pay the park’s visitation fee. Pictograph Cave State Park is located just south of Billings. If traveling via I-90, take Exit 452 and turn south (or take Highway 98 past the Yellowstone County fairgrounds and Metra Park and follow the road over the interchange). Just east of the interchange, on the south side of the road, is a sign for Pictograph Cave State Park. Turn right onto Coburn Road and travel approximately 6 miles to the park. Montana residents have unlimited daily entry into the state parks through an optional $4 annual vehicle registration fee. This fee makes interpretive programs and facility improvements possible.
