Lake Elmo State Park will be open to motorboat testing Saturday, May 19 . Boaters may take short test runs on the lake from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to make minor adjustments to their engines and crafts. There will only be one day of testing at Lake Elmo, and the lake is closed at all other times to motorized craft except electric motors. There is no charge for motorboat testing, which is sponsored by the Billings Boat Club, in cooperation with Fish, Wildlife & Parks. A $4 voluntary vehicle registration fee covers the State Park entrance cost for Montanans. Boaters are reminded that boats must be properly registered, and no extended excursions will be allowed. Wearable personal flotation devices (PFD’s) are required for each person on all boats. Those under the age of 12 must wear their PFD when the boat is in motion.
