Glasgow Hunter Ed class scheduled for April 23-28

The first Hunter Education class of the year in Glasgow will be held next month, April 23-28 at the Fish, Wildlife & Parks Quonset classroom. Classes will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 nightly with a mandatory live-fire field day on Saturday, April 28.

Pre-registration is required at FWP’s Region 6 office on U.S. Highway 2 West in Glasgow during business hours. Students will pick up course materials during this registration session and get a detailed schedule of the class. Parents must accompany students under age 18 to registration, or they can register on behalf of their children.

According to state law, anyone born after Jan. 1, 1985 must have completed the Hunter Education course in order to buy a hunting license in Montana. The minimum age for hunting in Montana is 12.

A second Hunter Education class is scheduled in Glasgow for the week of May 14 and a third class for the week of August 13 in Fort Peck. The April class is designed for beginning hunters who wish to apply for special deer, elk, antelope and other big-game species. The May and August classes are scheduled to accommodate hunters who need to be certified in time for this fall’s hunting seasons.
