Montana’s spring turkey gobbler season opens April 7. Licenses are available from all Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks offices, on the   FWP web site at fwp.mt.gov   and from FWP license providers in the state.

Hunters who wish to hunt in a special spring turkey gobbler permit area must apply by March 15: on line at fwp.mt.gov ; in writing; by visiting a FWP office; or by downloading an application from FWP’s web page.   If applying by mail, applications must be mailed to the FWP regional office managing the special permit area where the applicant would like to hunt.

A written application must include one’s name, address and ALS number. Applicants must indicate which special permit hunting area the application is for, have a 2007 conservation license, and include a $5 nonrefundable drawing fee. Applicants may apply for only one spring turkey permit and in only one area of the state.

The 2007 Spring Turkey Hunting regulations with details on turkey hunting in the general and special permit hunting areas are now available online and will be available after March 12 at FWP regional offices and at FWP license providers.
