Waterfowl hunters picking up their decoys at sunset in Region Seven.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) is looking for nominations for individuals that exhibited exemplary behavior during the 2006 hunting season. Nominees will be eligible to receive the Outstanding Hunter Behavior award this spring. The award program recognizes hunters who demonstrate outstanding behavior consistent with the lessons taught in hunter education about safe, ethical and responsible conduct. One award will be presented to an outstanding hunter in each of FWP’s seven regions around the state. In 2006, the program recognized a rancher who grants free access to youth hunters, a father and son who displayed exemplary behavior during a cow elk hunt, and a hunter who was instrumental in busting a commercial poaching operation. Nominations must be submitted to regional FWP offices by Jan. 31. A team of hunter education instructors and FWP staff will select the regional recipients. Awards will be presented as part of regional Hunter Education instructor workshops this spring. To submit a nominee’s name, contact Vivaca Crowser at the Missoula FWP office by email, vcrowser@mt.gov, or phone, 406-542-5518. Or, visit the FWP website to print and mail in a nomination form. -fwp-
