The Montana Discovery Foundation and the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Becoming an Outdoors Woman program are sponsoring a snowshoe class on Feb. 24 at the historic Forest Service Moose Creek cabin near Rimini. "If you can walk, you can snowshoe," said Liz Lodman, FWP’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman coordinator. "This class will provide an opportunity to use snowshoes while exploring the surrounding forest." Participants will practice "walking" in snowshoes and learn techniques for traveling up, down and across a hill. The class will also view signs of wildlife and learn basic track identification. A naturalist will accompany the class and will share information about winter ecology, animal tracks and other signs of wildlife found in the area. Snowshoes will be provided and a $12 fee will be charged for lunch and supplies. For more information and to register, call 406-444-2615 or pick up a registration form at the Helena FWP office or Forest Service office.
